The Matrix (1999) The sequels failed me, period. Yes, they were sweet, and they had action, and yet... they couldn't even reach the high expectations that were set from the prequel... the original The Matrix. A movie that I watched again more times alone than both sequels combined, just so I can catch every meaning of it. Woohoo. But this page is really about movie descriptions, and I'm here to provide everything from the top of my head (and some reminders from Yahoo! Movies). Getting to the point, this is a cyberpunk film about a seemingly normal Thomas Anderson who lives by day as a computer programmer and at night as the hacker Neo. After a series of strange events caused by an trio of faceless black-tie agents led by a Mr. Smith, Neo is led by a man named "Morpheus" and a woman named "Trinity" to learn of the truth behind his life. What Neo learned was shocking indeed: his entire life as he knew it has been an artifcial world all along, created by machines who had a long enslaved humans and deteriorated earth into post-apocalytic world. This reality, known as "The Matrix", serves as a means to subdue humans while the machines use the human lifeforce as a power source. Very heavy stuff indeed, and it takes Neo a rather lengthy amount of time before he could accept it. Neo then learned the reason why he was freed: an old prophecy has declared him to be "The One", the so-called messiah that would free humanity from the grip of the Matrix. Now fed with a variety of powers and fighting styles (jacked into the back of his neck :o), Neo engages himself into one place after another in a perfect blend of action and thriller. Oh, this is the movie where the term "bullet time" came from. ^^
Yes, I really do love this movie. Walls of text descriptions are fun. <-Back |
