Melissa is the very definition of grace. She�s firm yet gentle with an airy gait and refined head. When I first saw her she was a very timid young thing that rarely dared to venture away from her mother, and at first she didn�t catch my attention. There were several other foals I�d seen that day that I considered purchasing, but Melissa remained in my thoughts until I finally gave in and purchased the soft-eyed filly. I cannot tell you how thankful I am that she was the one I took home. During her early years, I�m ashamed to admit that Melissa didn�t impress me. I was smitten with Ashleigh and hardly had enough time to notice the beginnings of fierce determination growing with each step. As the years went by Melissa grew braver and braver; and while I was distracted by Ashleigh, Bradley and Melissa began to bond. It started off with the occasional ride and treat, but their friendship soon blossomed into something incredible. By this time I had started to notice that Melissa was not the head-shy, demure filly she once was. By the time she was two Melissa was a demanding, impatient young thing that nearly forced my attention. It was at this point that I admitted how wrong I�d been and started Melissa on her way to becoming a champion. With Bradley there to guide and encourage her, Melissa has since become completely self-confident in herself. Never again has she hesitated or looked for support; all of her early skittishness has been washed away and I have Bradley to thank for that.

Bradley is a quiet, serious competitor who comes alive in the ring. He�s built a strong bond with both MH Past Darkness and Paperback Novel and is a very talented rider. He was actually the grandson of my second instructor, and has remained at MH as a sort of requirement; though I don�t think I would have made him leave regardless. Where Alyssa�s talent is seeing potential, Bradley�s is perfecting it. He�s the perfect rider and trainer for just that reason, he understands each individual horse and spends time studying them, learning as much as he possibly can about their personality and mannerisms. Often times, he�s proved me wrong about well� everything. Though the only thing he truly holds against me is MH Past Darkness; he still doesn�t understand why I gave up on her so early in the game. I do believe he�s forgiven me because of Paperback Novel though, he worships the ground she walks on.
