Need volunteer to put basket together by mid October. * Distributed flyer on West Allis Memorial Hospital’s program that provides a basis of information for girls and boys on the threshold of puberty 11/5. * Riverside is hosting the PTA Council Meeting’s in November. Topic will be PTA vs. PTO * Mini-grant flyers sent out to teachers. Mini-grant committee will meet in November to discuss grants. * Red Ribbon Week – PTA provides popsicles after Friday assembly. Lisa Kreiter to pick up popsicles and bring to school. PTA also gave $475 for an assembly featuring a juggler. * Flyer distributed for families to have their portraits taken at Village Park 10/21 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. * Operation Kidsafe National Safety Tour flyer distributed. To be held at Jack Safro Toyota 10/12 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. * Thank to all Big Pig Gig volunteers, including Kristen and Scott Stein. Will find out later how much Riverside made. Estimated 50-60,000 people attended. * Discussed using Market Day profits to purchase a new Riverside sign with marquee. Stephanie Pike to look into pricing. * Wisconsin PTA donating a WII game system to a local PTA as part of the “Big Brain Academy” essay contest. Need to write an essay on what your school would do with the WII if they won. * The calendar has been made easier to find on the school Web site. * PTA Newsletter – Stephanie Pike to help with. Get Connected is a parent network that helps parents navigate children through their school years by providing them with age-appropriate information, networking with other parents, presentations from professional, guidance and support. * Discussed the idea of having a Menomonee Falls police officer attend a PTA meeting to talk to parents. Jen Clinton to look into. * 5th Grade Girls Scouts are doing crafts/activities during PTA meetings. * Teacher Conference Dinner 11/15 – PTA provides dinner for teachers during conferences. Treasurer’s Report, Kelly Marchese * Updated budget distributed * Some field trip money has been used by teachers. Teachers please note when requesting money for field trips from PTA which grade it is for and the number of students attending the field trip. 1st Vice President’s Report, Ann Mueller (Beth Courtney not in attendance) * PTA membership is at 164 members, goal is 220 members * Directory will be finished in next two weeks * Market Day (September) had 84 orders and made $435.50 for school.
