Way
out in front.
This is a photo of Gary taken at a desert hare
and hound race. The course is normally two 35-40mile loops with a pit
stop for gas in between. The difference between a hare and hound
and a hare scrambles is that the H&H does not cover the same
loop twice and the hare scrambles do. Each type of race is approximatley 70-
80 miles long The first mile or so from the start line to the point
where the course actually begins is the only part you are allowed to
practice. Once we get to the beginning of the course it is marked with
neon pink surveyors ribbon tied to the brush or, as you can see in the lower right,
on rocks.
