August 22, 2003 The San Francisco trip appears to be off. The latest information received indicates that most of the old sailors who served with Jack on the USS CALIENTE AO53 will not be attending the reunion in San Francisco as previously advertised. It turns out that the Caliente was not destroyed and has been campaigning around the world. There are many crews who have served on it and Jack was sure he didn't know any of the modern day sailors and the old guys were just too old to make the trip.. June just didn't want to go hang out with a bunch of shipwrecked sailors. For now its back to the drawing board to come up with another plan. |
