CHERRY FIREPLACE MANTLE & PHOTOS SHOWING CARVING DETAILS. |
This is a fairly large mantle, being about 5' tall and 6' 6" wide. The legs are over 4" thick, of solid cherry, not laminated. This was the first carving I ever did. |

I don't do a lot of large carved work, but do incorporate some carving into many of the projects I do. |

FIREPLACE MANTLE |
This mantle was put in an existing house that had never had a mantle, although provisions for one in the form of large bolts in the stone face were in place. The owner wanted the new mantle lower than the bolts, hence the upper part, with the walnut burl panel faces and frames. The carving is of cherry flowers, branches, and leaves. It was later stained to match the existing columns. |
