Based on the 1995 Census, Iloilo City has a total population of 334,539 inhabitants. By year 2000, the City's population is projected to increase to 361,598 people. By 2010, population is expected to peak at 422,458. For CY 1990-95, the ave. annual growth rate is 1.6. Among the district, Mandurriao has the highest growth rate at 5.3, while the City Proper district showed a negative growth rate of -0.5.

Current population density is registered at 48.8 persons/ha. By districts, Jaro showed the highest number of population at 87,854; followed by La Paz with 68,729; Molo with 56,689; City Proper with 55, 244; Mandurriao with 37,786; and Arevalo with the smallest population at 28, 237.

Iloilo City has an alien population numbering 651, based on the Bu. of Immigration & Deportation record. Of this number, 281 are Americans, followed by Chinese at 257, Indians -32, Canadians - 14, Germans and Bristish - 12 each, Dutch - 9, and the rest are distributed among citizens from other European and Asian countries.
