| Sue's Memory: One day many loooong years ago, I woke up one morning and was very sick. I had come to Tor C to watch the motel for Mom and Dad while they went to California. I got up that morning and was getting really sick. Breakfast did not work at all!! Guess what! Here I was all alone, running a motel with rooms to clean, and I had the MUMPS! And I was pregnant! Luckily, Ollie's sisters were living in T or C. I called and they came a running. So we managed until Mom and Dad got back home. But . . . the doctor put me to bed. He did not want me doing anything. So I spent the remainder of my pregnancy with Lori in bed. I also gave those mumps to Dad. And he was in bed. So Mom had to take care of me and Dad, and of course Andy was still a baby. The night Lori was born I woke up during the night with my back hurting. I laid there awhile before I realized that my back pain was coming in regular intervals. Oh my gosh!! Wake up Mom. She couldn't leave Dad and Andy to take me to the hospital. So . . . once again, we call on Ollie's sister. Again she came racing over to take care of me. Ollie's brother had come in that night for a visit also. So we all went to the hospital. By this time I almost didn't make it in time. The doctor didn't. I never even made it to the delivery room. I had her in my room. Louise and Bill (the sister and brother) came and made sure everything was okay and left for home to try and get a decent night's sleep out of what was left. The nurse came in with Lori after getting her all cleaned up and wanted to know where my husband had gone. Didn't he want to wait and see his new daughter before going home? I explained that he was only my brother-in-law. Ollie didn't arrive until later in the day. We had thought that Lori would never get the mumps since I had them while pregnant with her. But we were wrong! Happy Birthday Baby Girl! Mommy and Daddy |
