"Final Sight" By Fabian Villegas
The light seemed to fade ... but now I wasn't so sure that it was even there in the first place... I had read countless books that there was a light at the end of a tunnel ... that was bullshit is saw nothing... I was floating above myself looking at my body crushed by my car. Now I was looking at the bloody road under my face.... Pieces of glass encrusted in my face and in my eyes Yes I could see clearly And I felt no pain. All I saw was the yellow line, blood, and pavement... I felt no pain. Then I noticed... I felt nothing at all.... I was beginning to remember how it was that I came to this situation. I had suspected my girlfriend to be cheating on me ... worst of all I suspected that she was cheating on me with my best friend Syrus. I had seen them together at a restaurant ... they were sitting down and laughing... I didn't bother to talk to them ... they had not seen me. I jumped on my car and left I must have hit 170 miles per hour before I lost control of the car. Now I lie here waiting ... waiting for death.... But my eyes ... my eyes were severely damaged. I remembered feeling the sharp pain of the glass entering my eyes just before I hit the pavement. But I could see perfectly... I hear sirens in the distance ... yet I can't talk or move at all... I can only see See into nothingness All I have is a blank stare... Oh good they have arrived.... "Help me! Help me!" "Why can't you hear me!" There is a paramedic looking at me ... he looked away in disgust ... he is walking to me almost like he is afraid ... he is checking my pulse "Were too late," he says, "he's already dead." "I am not dead!" I scream but they don't listen "I am not dead!" "Why can't you hear me!"... It has been three weeks since I died. Yet I can still see I can still hear I also began to feel after a few hours. My body is dead ... but my brain is alive I cry out in terror Yet they cannot hear me. I don't know how much longer my brain will continue to live seeing everybody I love cry over me... I cannot take this pain ... they slowly close my coffin... Darkness. I hear them as they throw dirt onto my grave All I am left with is my thought. And maybe that is the worst punishment of them all I heard the coroner say that I was nearly torn in half the rolling of my car had put my body hallways out the window As it landed upside down ... my head severely damaged And my eyes nearly destroyed ... yet I could see and think clearly My brain is still alive. Silence.... I have nothing left. My body is dead But my brain is still alive... I don't know how much longer my torment will last ... maybe a few hours ... maybe a few days.... But then again ... maybe it will last years. All I can do is wait.... trapped, in my own personal hell. |
