Silk Sentiments

The sentiments of Silk fans from far and wide

Well as many of you years ago I saw SS on tv and loved it right away. I think Mitzi is a amazing actress and one of my favorites. I'm also a
autograph collector and I do have Mitzi's autograph. I was wondering since Melrose Place stopped in America does anyone have a new address
for Rob? All your help is welcome. There are also some people talking about meeting. Well I wish I could but it's a little to far to come from
here to there. But I wish you all a very good time when you do get together and think of me so I will be there a little also. :) Linde

Wasn't it awesome seeing our "Sams" back on the screen again?  I've become an  X-Files fan but at midnight last night there was no contest....Classic Silk
is  still my favorite. Sue

It sure felt good to go back in time a little watch a Classic Silk episode.  Mitzi looked absolutely beautiful - Rob was gorgeous! Watching them tease and banter with each other gives me the warm fuzzies each and every time. There was something there that has yet to be duplicated. Lia

I was just listening to the soundtrack of Notting Hill, a movie with Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts, and I heard this song and right away it reminded me
of CHRIS AND RITA. I think that the lyrics to this song would have been the perfect song for RITA from CHRIS. Goodnight and enjoy! Yolie

I never heard of Silk Stalkings till I met her [my fiance].   She loves that show.  So I decided to sit down and watch it with her, and I really like it.  It keeps me guessing who the killer is (unlike other shows I know who shall remain nameless *cough*NYPD Blue*cough*) and is always at a variety.  Regretfully, I saw the last episode first (where Chris dies and Rita leaves) and then started watching other ones, which ruins trying to figure if Chris and Rita will ever get together. Mitzi, I've seen parts of His Bodyguard and Angel 3, and I will be seeing the Storyteller when it comes out.  I hope you find a movie someday both you and Rob can work together again in.  I know how he doesn't like USA, but I hope something works out in the future. Josh

I'm watching & taping the re-runs again this week.  It still brings me great joy to watch their [Chris and Rita's] romance onscreen.  Patti

Why does watching Chris and Rita always make me so sappy???  LOL!  I didn't realize just how much I'd missed them until I started watching tonight!  From the very beginning, it was great to see Chris teasing Rita about reading those romance novels, her picking back at him, the cute way they play off of each other, etc., and Rita getting Chris GOOD at the end!  And it was great
NOT to have that sweet scene at Rita's apartment cut for a change!!!!  They were so cute, reading the book together, Chris kissing Rita on the cheek and thanking her for dinner, and Rita with "that look" after he left, the look that told us what was to come later in the season!  I absolutely loved every minute of tonight's Chris and Rita interaction and I could sit here and go on about it all night, but if I do, in the morning I'll be as sleepy as they were (another cute, sweet scene!), and since my boss will be in town
tomorrow, I guess I'd better get some sleep!  I hope all the rest of you enjoyed it as much as I did!  Mitzi and Rob get all the credit for making Rita and Chris who they were and still are for us, and for leaving us with this wonderful feeling after watching them for the first time in so long! Goodnight everybody, and sweet dreams of Chris and Rita! Happy Paula

In the age of new broadcast and cable networks sprouting while we sleep, "Silk Stalkings" was my introduction to the wonderful world of the USA network, just as "Dawson's Creek" and "Felicity" were many people's introduction to the WB network.

Once upon a time "Silk Stalkings" was USA's big draw.  It was so big that a kind of "Must Sleaze TV" built up around it on Sunday nights.  It was preceded by "Pacific Blue" -cops on bikes- and followed by "La Femme Nikita"- spies with guns and computers.  Each new show featured leggy, buxom women and hunks in bulging shirts.

Rob Estes and Mitzi Kapture played Chris and Rita on the original "Silk Stalkings," two Palm Beach cops who itched for each other but never scratched until they got married and left the show (whereupon Estes metamorphosed into a constant itch-scratcher on "Melrose Place and, after too much inactivity, Kapture started showing up to lend dignity to "Baywatch).  This is not a level
of television that most decent people are comfortable with.

I loved it.  The fact that Estes and Kapture were such lovable non-stars is what I liked about it most.  They had the aching vulnerability of Hollywood people who were never going to be invited up for a weekend at Ted Turner and Jane Fonda's ranch.  What Estes and Kapture lacked in dazzle they made up five times over in appealing humanity.

Every show featured an easy mystery plot and as much lingerie and heavy breathing as you could get away with in PG-13 prime time.  It was TV with no ambition whatsoever and all the undemanding friendliness in the world.  I was hooked.  I frankly preferred it to "The X-Files" almost every week.

After Estes and Kapture departed, they brought in two anonymous wanna -bes who seemed to have all the angry ambition and self-worship that Estes and Kapture so wonderfully lacked.  We fans rose up in voluble revolt and they were, in turn, quickly replaced by the much more palatable Janet Gunn and Chris Potter.

In fact, if HBO hadn't come through with "The Sopranos" one of the hippest TV shows of the '90's, I might still be drifting over to "Silk Stalkings," though, [it] was the signature series of a kinder, gentler USA network.
So new episodes cease after April 18.  Silk was 'the weekly home of softcore jokes and cherry eroticism'. In the best of all possible worlds the old ones [episodes] (CS to all of us!) will be rerun even longer than "Seinfeld."  After all, it's a much friendlier show.

I do not have any favorite movie actors or actresses, but I do have some favorite roles. One of my very top favorites is that of Rita Lance in SILK STALKINGS. The fact that she is a beautiful woman didn't hurt, but the sympathetic way she played the character was what really "got" me.

I can add my sentiments now that you've heard the rest! I agree wth Jeff (and everyone else!) except where he says that Mitzi and Rob lacked dazzle....I don't know why he thinks that but they certainly dazzled me! Rob and Mitzi will forever be my favorite on-screen couple because I was dazzled and awe-inspired by their terrific chemistry. They are the reason that Classic Silk will survive in re-runs forever. Charlie Brill and Mitzi McCall also added their special touch to the show and I will treasure those episodes as well. Chris and Rita remain forever the dynamic duo. May we see them on-screen together very, very soon!
