Silk Philosophy

Silk Philosophy, is what I call the deeply philosophical excerpts from Rita's monologues on Silk Stalkings!!

They're the portions of the show where Rita (Mitzi Kapture) narrates in her inimitable and expressive tones to give us insight into the plot and ensuing action, while we are sometimes treated to the beautiful scenery of San Diego, the home of "Silk". These narratives will forever be remembered as a special part of "Silk" and I have (hopefully) immortalized them on this page!

In the Name of Love
Some people get off on conversation. Some people do it with a look. Until you've had an intimate relationship with an exercise machine, you can never really appreciate the appetites aroused by pumping iron. Of course they'll tell you that the equipment was scientifically designed by some physical therapist with a PhD from MIT. It's lies, all lies. Only someone who truly understands the pleasure of pain could have created such exquisite machines of torture like the Marquis de Sadde....
A lot of police work is a numbers game. A code 5 is a stake-out, a 10-54 is probable dead body. That usually means whoever found it was too spineless to find out for sure so they called 911 emergency instead, and 911 called Palm Beach PD...that's us..
A million dollars is a lot of money, certainly enough to kill for, assuming you knew of somebody who carried that kind of cash. Only, the trouble with people today is even in Palm Beach, you murder some guy for his money, you better take American Express. Unfortunately for Quentin Kirkland III, he'd apparently left home without it. The man was collector; arts and antiques, wine and women. If you'd told my grandmother a guy had five wives, she would have told you it was four too many....
Some people are born into money and power. Some people rise and take it. While others still, if you'll pardon the expression, have it thrust upon them....
In Palm Beach some people will tell you talk is cheap. Others will tell you anything for a price. After hearing Meghan's version of the truth, we knew we needed a second opinion....
Love Never Dies
Whoever said "perception is reality" sure wasn't a cop because eyewitness accounts vary with every eyewitness. If three people see the same thing happen, they will almost always remember it differently. The trick is to catch the pieces of each account that seem to fit together and that is the beginning of the truth.

Daddy Dearest
There's nothing more special than being Daddy's little girl. You look up to him like he can do no wrong. But when that dad is not your real father, and he loves you a little too much, it can be an entirely different story.

Brother's Keeper
Family. What a concept. Are they the people who are bound to you by blood? The relatives you talk to and see on the holidays? Or are they the people in your life? Like the buddy that always helps you move or a girlfriend who sits with you when your heart is broken? Figuring out family can be pretty tricky, especially when those ties that bind tangle you in knots you never dreamed of.

Family Affair
"There's a tide in the affairs of men, which taken at the flood leads on to fortune. Omitted, all the voyage of their life is bound in shallows and miseries." See, I think, what the bard meant, had to do with choices we make, to boldly live our lives as though they make a difference, whether or not they actually do, or to plunge into the darkness and deception of a world defined only by its appetites-lust, greed, pride, envy, and revenge. When the sins of fathers are visited upon the sons as mere players in a scripted drama with no beginning, no middle, and no end.
