I bet a lot of you thought I wasn't going to update again at the rate I was going!
First off, I hope everyone had a happy and safe Easter, and I hope the weather wasn't too bad for those of you that had to drive.
To quote Lauren's dietician, Lauren is the perfect baby! Lauren has had a rough start, but her growth is catching up to the growth of "normal" babies, and I dare say she has a sense of humour! Even after she's told not to, she grabs on her g-tube and smiles at you. She's very aware of who is around, and has come to a point where she can cry out a little if she's upset.
Lauren has moved up to a larger trach size, but instead of getting one that is thicker along the tube which would block the air from going past her vocal cords and taking away her ability to make audible sounds, a longer trach has been given to us so that Lauren still gets all the air she needs, and can make her sounds as well!
Lauren also has some new shoes, some orthodics to flatten out her feet as before, her feet were pointed inwards as well as downwards, like someone going down an ice chute on a luge.
She has also gained some weight. Lauren is now 15 lbs and doing very well. She spent Good Friday at Nanny and Grandpa's, along with Uncle Tom, Aunt Christina, Uncle Joe, and Joe's Christina. We were visited by some friends of the family who had yet to meet Lauren, and she put on such a good show for everyone smiling and being playful. Nanny bought Lauren a little Duck that is bursting from an Easter egg that moves and quacks to "Stupid Cupid" that Lauren just loved! Uncle Joe seemed to like it as well!
I hope you are all taking care of yourselves, and thank you for your continued love, support, thoughts and prayers.
