Happy 14th of January everyone!  (No, it's not a holiday, but it is a good day).

Lauren's gaining some weight, she's upto 10lbs and 11.7 oz, and she's definetely getting more active with her face muscles!  If Rita or I make fools out of ourselves for her, her eyes light up and mouth moves into the most amazing smile I've ever seen!  She truly is a blessing, and an absolutely beautiful one at that.  Nanny and Grandpa (my parents, as I'm understanding we're calling them) came for a visit on Thursday, the same day Lauren had her latest immunizations.  She's up to date with her shots, only a few days after being back in the hospital for a night.

On Monday, Lauren's trach came out accidentally, and Rita had to do what's called an emergency trach change, and upon the insertion of the new clean trach, manual breaths were given with a ressussitator bag, and Lauren's chest didn't rise.  She started to lose her colour, but Rita being the intelligent person she is, new that if Lauren's chest wasn't rising with manual breathes, there had to be something blocking the airway.  Rita suctioned Lauren, and retrieved what's called a mucus plug (an amount of mucus that blocks the trach), and Lauren started to regain her colour.  Lauren was taken to the hospital just to get checked over, and the St Catharines General wanted to keep her for observation, but didn't really have a bed for Lauren.  So, at about 10pm, Lauren was transferred to McMaster, and slept soundly.  Unfortunately, these things will happen, but everyone learned from this scenario, and now that we have the first time out of the way, the next time will be a lot less scary.

Next to all that, nothing else is really new.  I'm starting teacher's college this coming Wednesday!!!  Ker-a-zay!  I'll be sure to let you all know how the first day or two goes.
