Better late than never.

Sorry it's been so long between posts.  I was writing one yesterday, and I accidentally clicked a button than deleted my entry, and I was too frustrated to write a new one!  But there are some new pics up, so in case you haven't looked already, go check them out.

The past three days have been interesting to say the least.  It's been a challenge trying to adapt to home life.  The past couple of days, we've been trying to find a home for everything, and still try to unpack ourselves.  But it is good to be home.

I would like to take a moment to truly recognize the staff at McMaster.

To all of Lauren's nurses that worked alongside her and brought her to her develomental stage she's at now (there's too many of you to name, and I don't want to leave anybody out), I hope you realize the change and difference you have made.  The care and love you gave Lauren while she was there is absolutely remarkable.  You've really made a difference, and Lauren will only get stronger because of the path you set her on.

To Kate, Lauren's occupational therapist.  I know you see how far Lauren has come since she first blessed us with her presence 3 months ago.  When I first saw her legs, I feared she would be paralyzed due to the angle her legs were at.  Now, not only do I think she'll be able to walk, but I believe with continued work and exercises, she'll outrun all of us.  She's becoming more and more animated, and has no problem telling Rita or I what she wants!  Thank you for your hardwork, and Rita still wants to know where to apply for your job of playing with babies all day!

To the doctors and surgeons and RT's who've worked to establish Lauren's needs and made them happen, Lauren is doing wonderfully at home and this is because her needs were determined, and you worked as a team to make her as healthy as she can be.  Right now, she's snoozing away and seems to be enjoying life.

To Jeannie Kelso and Rose Francis Clause, you've made this all seem so easy with the support and training you've given us.  When I first heard that I would have to change a trach and clean it, maintain Lauen's g-tube and feed her using it, I was terrified.  Now, I'm doing it in the middle of the night in between sleeps like it's second nature.  I'm not as good as Rita yet, but we're becoming such a strong team, there isn't anything we can't do together.  I know if there was a Lauren Cochrane fan club (well, an OFFICIAL one anyways), you'd be card carrying members.  Thank you.

We are settling in at home.  It's going to take alittle while as we establish what routines work out the best for us, but we'll get there.  We are well on our way, and we can't thank everyone enough.

And just so everyone knows, now that were home we are working on Thank you cards.  It was hard to do while we out in Hamilton, but I assure you, we haven't forgotten and they are on their way.

Again, I apologize it's taken so long to update, but Rita and I have been busy, and, well, we have a baby to look after!!!  I'm going to show Rita how to update again, as now that we're back home, she'll have easier access to the internet, and less likely to leave out details!  But, I've got some pictures going up, so take a peek-a-boo!

Thank you, as always, for your love, support, thought and prayers.
