Hello one and all!
Our little angel is now up to 7lbs and 11 oz! Apparantly, she's feeding quite well. She is now being fed every 4 hours, and is doing just great with that. She still gets the same volume of feeds throughout the day as though she were only feeding every 3, so don't worry. We're not starving her!
We also had some staff come by yesterday, and give Lauren her first casting on her left foot to correct the club. To my understanding, that will stay on for about a week, then it will be taken off and her foot will be repositioned, only to get casted again. But the staff here are miracle workers, and I'm sure everything will be just fine.
Rita and I did another trach change last night after I got to the hospital from working, then going to school, then driving to Hamilton! Needless to say, I was tired, but I suppose that's the life of a parent! Always on the go.
We're still progressing towards a take home date at the end of this month (and we're almost into the double digits!), but if anything changes, you'll know about it.
Thank you to those who sent well wishes for Lauren's 2 month birthday yesterday. I can't believe it's been that long already! Last night, Rita and I ran into a couple as we were leaving the NICU that attended the same prenatal class as us back in St. Catharines. We have met so many people from the Niagara region out here, that I'm starting to wonder! :-P But it was pointed out to me, that people closer to Toronto would go to Sick Kids. But with my experience with the staff here at McMaster, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. And I'm not just saying that because I know some of you ARE the staff!! To you, I want to send out a warm, heartfelt thank you for all you do to take care of my daughter, and to educate myself and my wife in Lauren's care. As I said earlier, you are miracle workers.
On that soft note, I don't think there's anything else to update you on. Thank you all for your love, support, thoughts and prayers.
