Today is Lauren's 1 week birthday, and it's been a reassuring night.
Lauren is almost off the IV!! They placed the IV in a different location again, but if Lauren keeps up with the feedings as she has been, in a couple of days she will be off the IV. As long as she continues to feed well, they won't have to do a PIC line, which is an invasive IV, they will be able to take out the IV.
She was having a tan when I went to visit her this morning before work, and that is to help with the jaundice that she has. I came in from work, and her colour looks a lot better.
Rita and I met with a neuro-muscular doctor today (well, along with Lauren!), and he did a quick assessment as it was getting to be a little late at night, and just to gather some information for him to think on until tomorrow. He's going to test Rita and Lauren for a form of muscular distrophy, which he doesn't think is the case, but wants to rule it out. He's going to look at the MRI results, and within the next few days, we should have some answers, and perhaps some more tests.
As a bonus, we also saw her knees bend tonight with the assistance of the dr, so now we know that it CAN bend, but we want to find out WHY it's not on it's own accord. This may mean a small muscular biopsy, which McMaster can do with a very small needle.
I'm going to show Rita how to update this blog, because I do get busy with school and work, and I'll admit, she can probably update everyone a little better than I can. But we will try to post as much as we can, and as soon as we can, so we can answer your questions as we go along. Again, thank you a HUNDRED fold for all your love and support. It's great to know we have so many people pulling for us and our baby girl.
Will update again soon,
