Family Update
What's New
November 4, 2006

So, apparantly I'm updating in the mornings now!  Truth be told, I get on whenever I can.

I'm not sure if I mentioned it ealier, but we have been approved for 2 ventilators, so we can keep one in Lauren's room, and one on the main floor or take it with us when we travel.

Also, I'm not sure if I mentioned how there was a risk within the tracheostomy (which is the term for the operation of a person receiving a tracheotomy) of Lauren's nerve to her larynx (commonly called a "voicebox") being cut.  I thought I heard something when Lauren was upset.  Rita thought she heard something when Lauren was upset.  My mom thought she heard something when Lauren was upset.  There was a sound again yesterday while Lauren and I were having some daddy-daughter time, and I asked the nurse on duty, and she did confirm that we were hearing Lauren's little voice!!!  Now, that is not to say that she'll be able to go sing operettas or anything like that, but it just means that her nerve was not cut, and there is potential for her to learn how to use her voice later.

Also, Lauren's feeds are now up to about 75ml, but is not getting one at 3am, so it'll be easier on us when we get home, as Lauren won't be expecting to get fed at 3am.  She is doing well with that, and we're hoping to up her feeds throughout the day a little more, and take away her 6am feed.  But I think that is still some time away, and we want to make sure she continues to do well with this feed first (which, FYI, is called a Q3 feed).

We still have more stuff to tackle, but we are getting there.  We're getting ready to go spend some time with Lauren, and bring her all of your hugs and kisses!

Thank you, as always, for your love, support, thoughts and prayers.
