Hey hey hey everybody.
On a side note for a moment, I would like everyone to please welcome yet another addition to our family. Helena and Ron Zacharias of Aylmer have given their 17 month old son, Joel, a little brother, Travis Michael. Travis was born on the 26th of October, and we all wish the four of you the best.
I've been quite busy, so I do apologize for the length of time in between updates. Rest assured, everything is going well. Rita and I continue to learn more and more with each passing day. I believe I mentioned how I assisted in a trach change (I took the old one out), and it's not as scary as it seems when you think about it. In my mind, I made it up to be a huge daunting task, and I don't know if it's because I have to be brave, or because I have confidence in myself due to the training I've received over the past little while, but I'm not as scared as I was before. We're still progressing towards Lauren's release date within the week of Nov 19.
I'm not if I mentioned it in an earlier blog, but when Lauren was born, she had a dislocated hip. Due to her breach position, her right leg grew to be out of the hip socket. An ultrasound was done 2 days ago on the hip, and it's in the socket now!!! Physio therapy is still being done on her legs, and they continue to make advancements and everyone can't believe how well she's coming.
Nothing else to really report. We have a team meeting coming up on Thursday, where all the medical staff working on Lauren and with Rita and myself will bring our heads together to make sure we're all on the same page. I'll try to update again before, but please assume that no news is good news, as I will be working a couple of 12 hour shifts this week and will be quite sleepy!
On an ending note, both grandmas have now held Lauren, and I think it's tough to say who is the proudest and happiest. I think they have to share those titles, as Lauren understands she couldn't be more loved.
Thank you to everyone for your support, thoughts, love and prayers.
