Today was a bit of a rollercoaster. Lauren's breathing apparatus has been set a little higher than normal, and has made some of the doctors thinking about re-intubating her. That was a little hard to hear, and made both Rita and I feel like it was a huge step backwards. They did a blood-gas test, to test her CO2 levels, and see if she did need to be reintubated. Everything came back Ok, so they are just going to monitor her and see how she does.
Lauren has also decided that she likes to spit up some of her food! I know this is a normal baby thing, but we're trying to get Lauren to gain some weight. Speaking of which, she was measure again tonight, and has put on about 6 grams in two days. I know this is VERY little, but it's better than losing the weight, and it's a step in the right direction. She has also learned she can cough, which throws her monitoring equipment out of wack (or maybe throws HER out of wack), and the nursing staff have to come and suction out what she's coughing up. I see this as a positive, as she is starting to expell on her own.
We're still waiting to hear the results of the bloodwork from last Monday. There's a saying that's getting used 'round these parts, and that's we're hurrying up to wait. We've hurriedly got some tests down, and now waiting to hear what the results are.
Lauren is still peeking around, and since she got her eye drops, her eyes are looking a lot better. Her eyes have yet to take their colour, but it's so cute to see her peek out! She made a few funny faces tonight while Grandma Judy and I were visiting her, then I heard...let's call it a "release"! And I got to change it. Thankfully, there wasn't a smell, but it didn't look great! I know I should get used to it, there's going to be a lot more and a lot worse coming!
Time to hit the hay. Thankyou for your conitinuing support, love, prayers, and thought.
