| Big Lessons from a Small Person Written by Grandma Judy On September 6th, 2006 my beautiful granddaughter, Lauren was born. What a powerful impact a 5 pound 11 ounce human can make! I have learned so much from Lauren. I decided that I need to share my discoveries on Laurens website, so others may learn and so that some day, when she is reading this she will see what an impact she has made in two short weeks. Lauren has taught me patience. She is taking her own time to enter this world; once in a while she peeks out and then closes her eye as to say...."Not yet but Ill join you soon." and all we can do is be patient. Lauren has shown me what strong people my daughter Rita and son-in-law Will are. I get strength from them. They are positive, determined and supportive of each other. Lauren has reminded me of the importance of family and friends. There are many people waiting to meet you, Lauren, when you are ready. Lauren has shown me that there are amazing people in the world. We sometimes get all wrapped up in the not so amazing people, but I have witnessed caring, committed hospital staff who care deeply about Lauren and Laurens parents. Lauren could not be in better hands. Ive learned about the Ronald McDonald House, an organization with which I was vaguely familiar. There is great comfort in knowing that while in Hamilton, Rita and Will have a home away from home where they can be close to their daughter and where they can simply be. I recommend to all who read this to learn more about Ronald McDonald House, the facility, its volunteers and staff who so gently care for the residence. And finally, shes reminded to be determined. Life does not always give us easy roads but we must travel them regardless. Lauren is determined! She lets the nurses know what she likes and what she does not like; she is a fighter. Lauren is the example for the rest of us. When Lauren comes home, there will be one more lesson.......well not really a lesson but an experience as we have never experienced before. We will celebrate Lauren and we will prepare for the ride of our lives as little Lauren continues to teach us, as Im sure she will. |
