Ripple found Sabrina in the fence row when it was very cold.The other kittens had crossed over to the Rainbow Bridge, but little Sabrina was still hanging on to life. Ripple kept coming to aunt Sacred Heart and crying so she followed her to the fence row and found Brina as she was called later. She was the size of a little mouse.Aunt Mer took her to the vet and he said there was nothing he could do to save her.My aunt Mer don't give up, so she bought canned mommy's milk, vitamins,etc and started trying to save Brina. Everyday for the first 3 months of her life,Brina was at the doctors.For the first year of her life, the doctors kept saying"put her to sleep and out of her misery". Aunt Mer would say no and change doctors. That first year she was fed Gerber baby food mixed with milk so she could be fed with a medicine dropper. Gerber heard about her and started sending coupons for her food,and gifts for her. She finally got to where she could eat solid food and loved the toddler sticks. She never ate cat food in her short life, it was toddler sticks, ham,chicken,turkey and minced up steaks. Brina was deformed in her front legs, when she walked or ran her legs would cross,but that didn't slow her down.She received physical therapy from Aunt Mer and Uncle Ray-Ray every day. She had 3 strokes, and they would set up day and night working with her.The University of Alabama Vet School got involved in her case and helped alot.The vets said it was Aunt Mer and Uncle Ray-Rays love and care that kept her going.When she was 5, she got after a bird and ran up a tree for the first time in her life.Sabrina may have been different from other cats, but no cat was ever loved more than she was.
She crossed to the Rainbow Bridge in 1996 while asleep. Grandfather gave her a very peaceful crossing, cause he knew how special she was. If they had listened to the vets, she would not have lived to be 6 years old.Please remember vets and doctors don't know everything.Go with your heart and your prayers to help your loved ones,whether they be 4 legged or 2 legged.
