YOUTH MOVEMENT FOR TIBET IN INDIA
Youth Movement fro Tibet in India has not gained the momentum that is desired and expected.
However in the international arena movement ahs gained tremendous support from the youth
particularly after the formation of SFT in 1994, which is now grown into a network of over 650
Chapters at high schools and universities in more than 35 countries including Brazil, Nigeria
and India (very recent). SFT has helped secure the release of Ngawang Choephel and numerous
other political prisoners ,and helped lead campaigns that have cost the Chinese Government billions
of dollars , Whenever Chinese leaders visit other countries ,whenever China hopes to solicit foreign funding for
their genocidal projects in Tibet and whenever China tires to cover up the truth about Tibet ,SFT is there!
In India All India Students Forum for Tibet was formed in early 90s. Apart from that youth
movement could not establish its group in India. However, Tibetan youth Congress played
a significant role in creating awareness among the Indian youth through various joint programs
of seminars and conferences. Among others, Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad ,a nation wide
student wind of RSS had been the one of the most active supporter of Tibetan issue.
