| Campground at 11pm sharp we were disappointed to see the gates locked and not a person to be seen. But, being the resilient ladies we are we simply grabbed our stuff and trekked the long road to our campsite - all of this in the pouring rain no less? As you can imagine there was a lot of bitching involved in this journey but soon enough we were in our tent, as dry as can be expected and tired enough to fall right to sleep. The next morning we awoke with excitement at headed down the highway to rent our gear (from Live to Surf), check in with Surf Sister and get out on our boards to learn to surf. As badly as our adventure started it was all worth it once we were out on the water. Our instructors, Emma and Molly, taught us the basics and we loved every minute of our two days as surfers, even if they resulted in bruises, sand burn and the sorest muscles I have ever experienced! We all managed to stand up at least once (in my case only for a few seconds at a time) and we found that even riding the waves in on our bellies and knees could be fun! If anyone is interested in learning to surf I'd really recommend that you check out lessons with Surf Sister - they were AWESOME! I've caught the bug now and I'm already planning for my next opportunity to get out to Tofino (I'm not looking forward to the thicker 'winter' wetsuits though)! |
