honored for heroic
action in saving newborn The cries of a newborn baby brought Daniel Cedeno out of his house on a Thursday night. After he brought the baby into the house, the quick action of his wife Martha made the difference in the life of the boy who was only hours old. Martha learned the skills that were so important in the hospital after giving birth to one of her children. The Red Cross honored the Cedenos at a press conference in July for their quick action. The Red Cross also announced a special initiative to bring Infant CPR and First Aid training to the rest of Rhode Island. "It is imperative that all Rhode Islanders-- whethere they are new parents or not -- learn these skills that can make the difference in the life of a newborn child," said Barbara G. DeCesare, executive director of the Red Cross of Rhode Island. "The Cedenos proved that quick action and proper training are the keys to saving a life." At the press conference honoring the Cedenos, the Red Cross announced a program that kicked off at the Warwick Mall where Infant CPR and First Aid training is available to the public at a greatly reduced price. Thanks to Aram Garabedian, Red Cross marketing chair, the mall agreed to pick up part of the cost of this class for all participants through the end of the summer.
