"...moral law & its severe penalties"-- William Blake

Euryale is a baatezu with extrordinary precognitive abilities, known for her fiery temper and her lack of patience.

It seems as if Euryale has always dwelt in the Hells. Beelzebub named his present city (Malegard) after her in ancient times, when she was the mistress of discipline there. He sent her to Malebolge to keep an eye on Beherit and ensure he did not step out of line. Beherit's court was a great city of copper, the equal of any in Hell (save Dis, infinite even then). Beherit had made the place into what was almost a factory for processing and promoting baatezu as he attempted to build an army big enough to overthrow Baalzebul and establish himself as Baator's second in command. His consort Gargoth sat silently at his side, offering him assurances that when the day came the Kingmaker of Hell would side with his beloved. Euryale's coming was not greeted with welcome; nothing could hide their activities from her keen eyes, but she did nothing, offering only a poem.

Euryale customarily takes the form of an old arthritic-looking hag with the strength of a titan and serpentine hair. In various forms she visits the copper citidels of her plane; if the inhabitants do not respond appropriately the burg is destroyed in a vast inferno and servants are dispatched to build another. Euryale is the third ruler of Malebolge. Euryale replaced Moloch, who in turn replaced Count Beherit, who was destroyed by the Dark Lord for disobeying restrictions on the elevation of devils. Lilith and Tartach convinced her to stage a coup during the mad cycles of the last Reckoning, and as a result she is no longer considered a subordinate of Baalzebul. The Hag Countess moves around constantly, visiting the copper citidels of Malebolge in disguise and destroying those she disapproves of. She has also been sending expeditions to the Astral Plane to collect pieces of dead gods in hopes of discovering an easy path to immortality, as she lacks the patience of Molech or Lilith. Her priestesses gain their spells from the Olympian god Hecate.
