Long time sabmag listmembers will remember that I've been a victim of "sudden
battery death syndrome" a couple of times and so I've become naturally
suspicious of 'old' batteries.
Last April I took posession of my v30 project bike. I'm reasonably certain
that it sat for at least a half year before I acquired it. When I was
beginning the project, I pulled the battery out and noticed that it was
low on acid in every cell. I decided to fill the battery with distilled
water, and periodically put it on the battery tender. I figured when I was
ready to actually *start* the bike, it'd be no good, and I'd have to
replace it, but in the meantime it was good enough to test turn signals,
etc.
I started the bike this weekend - with the old battery!
