The link above will take you to Barry McErlean's website.

Barry is a detective who was involved with Julie and John's murder investigation and he has recently published a novel titled 'Fallen Angel'.

Julie's and John's murders and the subsequent events involving their children had such an impact on him that he was motivated to write this book.

Although a book of fiction, he expresses the very real thoughts and emotions that a person in his role as a detective is forced to deal with when faced with a tragedy such as this in their professional life.

I contacted him via the publisher's website after reading it because I was touched by his genuine care and concern that clearly showed throughout the entire book.

I enjoy reading the emails and messages I receive and would love for you to sign my guestbook to let me know that you stopped by.

Julie and John

This site is dedicated to the memory of Julie and John my much loved and missed sister and brother-in-law.

Two beautiful, loving and caring people who never did wrong to anyone murdered in their new home of 10 days in front of their seven children on the 20th July 2000.

The person who shot them, was convicted on the 6th September 2002 to life imprisonment and eligible for parole in 20 years from the day he shot them.

He was unknown to Julie and John and for 6 months he monitored their every movement, as well as videotaping them doing normal everyday things such as playing with their children in their front yard and when they went grocery shopping etc. He didn't have anything particularly exciting to report back, because Julie and John were simply a happily married couple who devoted their time to loving and caring for their children and providing them with a safe and stable family environment.

He waited until they came to the front door to answer it and then shot them through the glass panel of their front door before they even opened it, Julie was standing behind John and the one bullet went through both of them and richocheted off the wall. He then burst in through the door and fired more shots at both of them. He did this with the full knowledge that all seven children were inside.

(I used to have his name here because I wanted people to know who this cold and calculating killer was, however, I've now removed it upon realising that his name isn't worth mentioning at the risk of any misconceived glorification.)

As a consequence of flaws in our justice system, the others involved continue to live their lives as free citizens.

This tragic end to their lives was the culmination of jealousy, obsession, greed and lies.

Their lives may have been stolen but no-one can ever steal our memories.

They are deeply missed by all their families and friends.

Our hearts go out to all their children who are always in our thoughts.

Rest in peace Julie and John ....
