Resende Youth Mission Trip

Wander and Carla's Report

Here we are fine, and so happy with happened at Uberaba, Minas Geralis. We left Resende on Friday, November 1 at 10:00 pm. We took 37 people on this trip (33 young people and 4 adult sponsors), everybody was from First Baptist Church of Resende.

It was a long way...

We arrived in Uberaba on Saturday at 8:00 AM. As soon as we had breakfast, we divided into two groups, one went to the cemetery to stay at the tent and the other group went to the town of Pacaembu to visit homes.

On this day (November 2), many in Brazil observe the Day of the Dead. Many people go to the cemetery to place candles and flowers at graves, pray and give homage to the souls of the dead. These people don't have the hope that Jesus promised. In the tent that was setup at the cemetery entrance, we had doctors, nurses, dentist and some helpers to attend to the needs of the people. Fresh water and medicines will be provided at this tent. It was called the "Tent of the Peace". The purpose of this outreach is to provide an opportunity to share with them about Jesus.

The second group worked in the town by going to the homes. This group visited and made a census. This profile will help prepare this area for Bible studies and other outreach.

Many people visited our Peace Tent, and each one heard about Jesus. One of the local policemam who was working near us said, " You are really blessing this place". We wrote down the addresses of these people and the local pastor will make contact with them.

The other group visited many homes and shared the Gospel (we used Steps to Peace with God). We gave testimonies and I saw a lot of our youth (who had never talked about Jesus) do just that there. I confess that I felt very happy.

During the visits and at the tent, we also invited people to go to the musical that the Youth Choir preformed on Saturday night.

On Sunday morning, all of the group went back to the cemetery entrance and we presented a theatrical drama and the youth choir sang again.

We went back to Resende on Sunday afternoon.

We had some wonderful moments there, on this trip. I'm sure we were really blessed working in Uberaba. Many People from this city accepted Jesus during these two days and have had their lifes changed, but our lives were also changed. We are imperfect and, many times, we dont know how to please God. But, God used our lives and our willingness on this trip. It was a privilege for the Youth Team from First Baptist Church.

All honor and all glory be given to the Lords Name !!!!
