Using Songs to Practise FCE & CAE Listening Comprehension Skills
By León Zuna
Abstract
FCE & CAE listening comprehension tasks test our students’
ability to understand spoken English in various formats.
Students need to understand what is being said. They also need
to cope with the task they are presented with. Songs are
usually used to motivate students. But they can also be a
powerful and motivating tool to teach and practise the very same
exercises they will face when sitting for these exams.

He holds a BA in Psychology and Applied Social Psychology. He
is also a Teacher of English as a second language. León has

fosters the development of the students' communicative
competence through the integration of the four language skills
in a learner-centered environment.
The presentation will focus on how social tools and services
such as blogs, wikis, social networks and live web conferencing
tools, among others, can be used to foster collaboration,
meaningful communication and autonomy in online and blended EFL
courses.

Training for International Examinations With a Communicative
Edge
By Paola Danesi
Abstract
Testing is an integral element in the teaching-learning process
and exam training should always be regarded as a positive
experience: it provides teachers and students with sound
feedback about progress. However, on some occasions, testing may
exert a negative effect on teaching. This may happen when the
teaching becomes dominated by the test and the items that are in
it and, as a result, the format of the test determines the
format of the lesson. In order to avoid this negative scenario,
exam training should not be confined to working through past
papers. An element of communication should always be added. Come
and learn what to do and what not to do in order to make exam
training more communicative!
Biodata
Paola Danesi
Paola is a graduate teacher from I.E.S. en Lenguas Vivas “Juan

PHRASAL VERBS:
Catch up with them before they
leave you behind.
By Prof. Luis A. González
Abstract
The aim of this presentation is to contribute to incorporate one
of the most difficult points in the English language – phrasal
verbs.
The main reason to expand the vocabulary, as well as to improve
the listening and speaking skills, is definitely to improve our
communication with other speakers or native speakers. I will
suggest some ideas for teaching these lexical items so as to
avoid the lack of propriety in the construction of sentences.
Therefore, we must take into account their frequency in spoken
English and the semantic values they have to achieve
communication without ambiguities.

Luis A. González
Luis Alberto González graduated at National University, Córdoba.
He is an oral Cambridge examiner. He studied in USA. and got his
