Government Wealthfare

Why do people build homes near the ocean, and rivers that destroy the very dwelling they are presenting as part of their HAVE lifestyle? Because the Federal Government has insurance for them at prices that would make most blue collar home owners mad! That’s right, federal flood insurance for the haves, at have not prices!

How about farming subsidies for the billionaire, Hardwood subsidies for sports figures, textile subsides for Actors, and Politicians! Rockefeller, the grandson of JD is getting thousands in farming subsidies for owning a farm in upstate New York. Scotty Pippin is getting thousands because he owns property that has hard wood trees growing on it, NOT planted, just by chance and just on a few acres. You can get a few thousand a year per llama on your property! It seems their wool is better than sheep wool. Have 10 llamas and get $300k in subsides, and never shave a single lama, or sell their wool.

The Policy for Fed Flood Insurance:

Taxpayer backed flood insurance grew out of a need for cheep flood insurance. The insurance industry, like all businesses are in business to make money! To insure ocean front property would have cost the home owner a fortune! No bank would agree to a mortgage without flood insurance, whether you’re buying or building. No insurance company in their right mind would sell a policy at a loss. REMEMBER businesses are in business to make money, RIGHT! Insurance companies take your money every week, month, or year in hopes that they won’t have to pay out a claim! If they do then they will fire you, and place your name on a blacklist, and make it impossible for you to obtain homeowner insurance at a reasonable price! That’s another story for another time!

The Fed’s to the rescue:

Uncle Sam will insure your ocean front property for up to $250,000 per incident. That means that your beach house could be rebuilt at a cost of up to $250,000 every time it gets wiped out by a storm. Up and down the coast, the Army Corps of Engineers dumped sand on hundreds of beaches. This seems like a dumb policy too, since a study of replenishment projects found the new sand usually washes away within five years. But the government does it anyway and you pay for it. Uncle Sam is writing insurance policies and we are the one who have to pay for it again! Congress doesn’t pay for much of what they need to survive on a daily basis, like healthcare! They have the best healthcare our tax dollars can buy, while the poor and the elderly can’t afford to see a doctor, or buy their prescriptions. Congress has limo’s that drive them all over DC, so the price of gasoline doesn’t bother them; and neither does the cost of insurance, of vehicle ownership, or of vehicle maintenance. We pay for their transportation! Who do you think pays for the food that goes on that Thousand Dollar a plate fund raisers? Again this is another story for another time. So the bottom line is since the insurance companies would NOT write policies that would have bankrupted them, Congress will on the backs of the taxpayers!

Congress covers the elite and famous with the subsidized insurance going to affluent homeowners on both coasts from Malibu Beach, where movie stars live, to Kennebunkport where the Bush family has a vacation home, to Hyannisport, where the Kennedy family has a summer home, to the Hamptons. Thousands of homes of people who have more than most, and could afford more then most. Thanks to Congress, they don’t have to spend their hardly earned money, we do.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

The next time you’re listening to an elected Fed, remember them at their beach house eating lobster, caviar, and drinking Dom. Then think about the elderly woman at the pharmacy, this could be your grandmother or your Mother, being told that her Fed’ Government Medicaid or Medicare insurance won’t pay for her prescription any more!  Then think back to the rich and famous playing on the beech! Nice picture isn’t it for the greatest country in the world.
