Author's Note: This fic is rather...obscure, I think. I never mention any names. The person being addressed changes mid-fic. But it works.

They can take everything from me. Your love. Your smile. Your laughter. Your voice. Your body. Your heart.

But they can't take your eyes.

I keep your eyes.

For as long as I live, the memory of your eyes will be with me. As they danced in merriment. As they glared at me, full of venom. I'll remember the years I watched them change. From a child's innosence, to a woman's gaze, full of wisdom and maturity. Beautiful liquid eyes filling and them brimming over with passion.

Your eyes. My eyes.

They can't take that from me. They can't take the bits of green in your brown eyes that reflected so much love, or the gold flecks that glowed as we made love.

Those memories are mine alone. Those eyes that gazed at me with such unwavering love. Mine.

If I could hold just one part of you, forever. When all else fades into oblivion. And you're forgotten and I'm forgotten. I will keep your eyes. I wont forget.

Unto Enternity.

Even now, I can still read your eyes...they tell me to let go. To forget. The fates, they don't take your eyes from me.

Even you, long since gone, tell me to let go.

No.

I keep your eyes, my love. I keep them close to my heart. And whenever I feel alone, frustrated, hurt, tired, or happy...whenever I feel anything, I'll remember your eyes.

Redrimmed with tears, bright with mirth, dark with desire, blank with boredom, heavy with thought, hot with jealousy, hard with frustration...every emotion was beautiful in your eyes.

Every expression a cherished memory.

Don't plead with your eyes in my memories. It is all for naught, because I keep your eyes. And they will not fade.

The flesh of our flesh looks at me with searching eyes. Your eyes. Searching for a Mommy.

And my eyes, stormy and hollow, tell her she has no Mommy.

Mommy's gone. Mommy never stopped bleeding. Mommy cried, looking into a reflection of her eyes as the life drained out of her.

Mommy told me to learn how to plait a braid. Mommy told me not to chase all the boys away. Mommy told me not to make the bath water to warm. Mommy told me to make sure you had a night light.

Mommy sobbed as she made me promise to raise her baby right. Not like her.

Mommy told me not to let you become a tomboy.

I told Mommy that Daddy loves tomboys.

Mommy laughed and her eyes were bright even when her face was pale. Mommy loves us, baby.

Mommy made sure I would always keep her eyes.

The End
