Author's Note: This is a Drue/Jen fic. Cause I love them. Take into account Season 4, but not season five.

Jen Lindley glanced around the coffee shop at the edge of Boston College. The space was small and intimate, framed pictures of old patrons dawned the walls. The two dozen or so small tables were spread around the room, a couple of feet of hard oak floor separating them.

The establishment was surprisingly quiet for a cafe that practically sat on a college campus. But Jen couldn't say she minded much. She tossed her head of curls over her shoulder, she'd allowed it to grow long over the summer, at Jack's request.

He told her she looked more mysterious that way. She thought it made her look like an air head.

But maybe not, after all it had caught the attention of--"Well, well, well," A hauntingly familiar voice broke into her thoughts.

"Drue," she looked up from the scarred table to meet his ice blue eyes.

"Look who we have here..." He smirked in that way that made her want to throttle him. He looked good, she noted, the jeans encasing his long legs were just tight enough she could see the curve of his butt as he turned to grab an extra chair. His sapphire blue shirt brought out the brilliance of his eyes, even in the dim light of the caf.

"Valentine, what are you doing in Boston?"

He took the seat across from her, without her invitation. "Last I saw you in Capeside, I told you I'd be in Boston."

"Right...but in this area? At this exact time?" She questioned. "Of all the places in Boston, you chose here?"

"Are you accusing me of stalking?" He wondered, his face the picture of innocence.

She rolled her eyes heavenward, "What did I do to deserve this?" She pleaded with the higher power.

"You don't believe in God, Jenny," Drue reminded her.

"Desperate times call for desperate measures."

"Sorry, I don't think divine intervention is going to help you get rid of me." She frowned and glanced at her watch. "Meeting someone?" Drue wondered as a waitress approached.

He ordered an Iced Mocha and Jen ordered a simple coffee. When the waitress left, Jen finally answered him. "As a matter of fact, I am."

"Oooh, another man?" Drue arched a dark eyebrow at her.

"The only man." She corrected, an annoyed glint in her eye.

Drue looked around, "You didn't tell me Jack was coming. I'd love to catch up with him."

She kicked his shin under the table. "What, you think a straight guy wouldnt be interested in me?"

He rolled his eyes, "Did I say that?"

"Thats what you implied."

He snorted, "What I implied isnt that a straight guy wouldnt be interested in you, more like you arent interested in them."

She looked away from him, hurt by the words. "So, what? Im a lesbian now?"

"No," Drue corrected himself quickly. "I just think you dont give guys a chance."

"Humph." She crossed her arms over her chest. "Well, Im giving this guy a chance," she said defiantly.

"Yeah? Who is he?"

"This guy who sat next to me in my Intro to Anthropology class." She answered.

"Whats he like? Just so I know hes not a figment of your imagination."

She shot him a glare, "I didnt make him up, Drue."

"Humor me."

She rolled her eyes, but complied anyway, knowing it was the only way to get him to shut up. "Hes tall"

"Arent most people compared to you?"

"Are you going to listen or what?" She grumbled, taking a drink from her coffee, "Dark hair, kind of an odd looking face"

"Odd?"

"Yeah, liketheres something out of proportion. His eyes are too close together, or his nose is off centeredIm not really sure what it is."

"So hes ugly." Drue clarified.

"I didnt say that," she smirked. "Hes rather" she searched for the right word. "Beautiful. Like the blue of the sky on a clear day."

Drue chuckled, "So this guy has you spouting poetry now? Are you sure he isnt gay?"

"Well, he was looking at Jack kinda strangely in the cafeteria earlier today," She smiled wryly, "But that kiss he gave me after class this morning seemed to say otherwise."

"So he kissed you. Fresh."

She giggled, "Slipped me the tongue too."

"All this before the first date. Im shocked, Jenny." He sat back in appall.

"What have I told you about calling me that?"

He tapped his chin in thought, "Something about how you simple adore me when I use that nickname?"

She kicked him again under the table. "Try again."

"Ow," he rubbed at his shin, "What are you wearing, steel toed boots? You know, you shouldnt be too sure this guy is much going to like your violent tendencies."

She shrugged one petite shoulder, "Hell just have to learn to live with it. So, you seemed to dance your way around my question."

"What question?"

"What are you doing in Boston?"

"I thought it was obviousstalking you."

"Ha ha, cute. So seriously?"

"Would it be a problem if that was the reason?" He wondered.

"Yes," She answered without a second thought. "Ive experianced enough rough relationships, from a guy twice my age taking my virginity, dealing with a guy having put me on a pedestal and hating me when I fell from it, another who tried to pull me back to my den of inequity, a twenty-something who didnt understand no, a bible thumper who couldnt handle his hormones let alone mine, a freshmen who held a never ending torch, a friendship that turned to sex, but never actually got to the sex, and then the broken heart from said freshmen. Drue, I really dont think I need to add stalker to the list."

"And here, I thought you had no good reason to be wary of men." She rolled her eyes. "Okay, fineI didnt follow you here. Your presence is merely a bonus to my choice of college."

She smiled, taking another drink of her coffee. They fell into an easy silence.

After a few moments, Drue spoke again, "So, this guy, he made you wait long?"

She shrugged, "I donno. I wasnt paying much attention."

"Its twelve," he gestured to the clock on the wall.

"Damn, Ive been here an hour and a half." She finished her coffee quickly and stood up, pulling her coat from the back of the chair.

"What a wanker," Drue smiled and stood to help her with her coat. "How dare he keep a beautiful women waiting."

She smiled as his hands smoothed down her arms. "I donno, I happen to think you were worth the wait."

He used his finger to tilt her chin up to him and he lowered his lips to hers in a soft kiss. "Hmm, you taste like coffee."

"You taste like mocha." She returned before curving her hand around the nape of his neck and pulling his lips back to hers, more insistently this time. They broke apart after a moment, their breathing more strained than it was moments before. "Im gonna strain my neck if we keep this up."

"You think the height difference will prove to be a problem?" Drue wondered, taking her hand as they walked to the exit.

"Im willing to work around it if you are."

"And I am."

The End
