Part Three
by dannie & Rinny

"Potter," Pacey threw his backpack into the empty chair beside Joey at the lunch table several days later and then sat down. "Just the woman I was looking for."

"What bet did I lose?"

"I don't recall having made a bet, but if you're interested..." He winked at her.

She rolled her eyes. "What do you want?"

"Oooh...several things." He ran his eyes over her, "You're looking quite ravishing today."

"This must be serious if you're resorting to flattery."

He grinned down at her, "It's not flattery when it's true."

She picked sparingly at her sandwich. "So are you planning to get to the point anytime soon?"

"Anticipation is all part of the fun, Jo."

"The point?"

"I just know you want to help me out with this chemistry crap that they're trying to drill into my head." He gave her his best smile.

"I can't work miracles."

"I'm not asking for a miracle, just a minor phenomenon."

She sighed. "Alright. I'll do it."

He grinned and gave her a quick kiss, dead center on her mouth, "I knew I could count on you." She blinked in surprise. A smile crossed over his features at the look on her face, "You may want to close your mouth, you'll catch flys."

She glared at him. "Shut up."

"Heard from RJ recently?"

"It's AJ," she corrected, annoyed.

"Whatever."

"Don't push it."

"I figured we could start tonight? If that's okay with you?"

She thought about it for a moment. "Alright. Tonight is fine."

"Um, seven okay?"

"Yeah, but you better not be a pain in the ass about this."

"Wait, actually...I think eight would be better."

"On time, actually prepared to do some work?"

"I swear, well...maybe, eight-thirty at the latest."

Her eyes narrowed. "Eight o'clock or you're studying by yourself out on the porch."

"You'd do that to me in the dead of winter?" His eyes widened in innocence.

"If Lincoln managed, I'm sure you can Pacey."

"Comparing me to one of history's greats, I should be honored."

"Just be on time."

"I'll do my best."

"Your best what?" Shelly, Pacey's co-star approached their table, her hands clasping the straps of her backpack.

"Oh," he gave her his best smile, "Joey and I have a study date tonight."

"That's not going to effect our date, is it?" She arched her eyebrow at him, a tiny frown marring her lips.

"Not at all. What I have planned for us wont take much past seven."

Joey uncapped her bottle of water. "I guess you better set yourself up for disappointment now."

"Huh?" Shelly cast her glance over at Joey.

Joey rolled her eyes. "Never mind."

"She's just jealous," Pacey whispered loudly to Shelly.

"And you're obviously suffering from severe delusions," Joey said pointedly.

"What do you think, Shel? Does she look jealous to you?" Pacey pursed his lips in thought, "Maybe you should talk to RJ about coming down for a visit again, you obviously have some frustrations to get rid of."

"I'm staying out of this one," Shelly held up her hands in innocence.

"I'm guessing your chemistry grade has greatly improved in the last five minutes and you won't be needing my help anymore."

"I love you?"

"Get lost."

"I'll be there at eight." He pushed back his chair, "I'll bring chocolate."

"Don't forget your books."

"Damn." He gave her a smile in parting as he and Shelly departed.

Pacey skipped up the stairs to the Bed and Breakfast five minutes after eight and knocked on the door. He switched the white bag in his hand back and forth as he waited for someone to answer.

Joey opened the door, and glanced at the watch on her wrist. "You're late, and I'm busy now."

"Would a five dollar piece of chocolate buy your forgiveness?" He held up the bag.

She pretended to think about it for a moment before shaking her head. "Nah, I don't think so."

"What about ten pieces of five dollar chocolate?"

She leaned against the doorframe, contemplatively. "I don't know... Can chocolate actually qualify as a good gift? There's the whole fattening factor and it can cause breakouts."

"Potter," he handed her the bag, "This is Godiva chocolate, the most exquisite, expensive, and orgasmic chocolate available in the greater Massachusetts area." He smiled at her, "I think it's worth it."

She grabbed the chocolate and began to close the door. "Thanks for the chocolate, but like I said, I'm busy now."

He stuck his foot in the door, "Ah ah ah, chocolate in exchange for tutoring." He smiled suggestively, "Although, I might be willing to trade for something else..."

"A watch so you'd actually be able to tell the time?"

"It's only five minutes."

"I do have my own work to do."

"But you can't have expected to tutor me for just the five minutes I missed."

"Let's just say a better offer came along in those five minutes."

"And what exactly could be better than spending quality time with moi?"

"That's a long and involved list that I don't want to get into right now." She began to shut the door again.

"Potter, come on." He held the door open, "Please?"

"Maybe Shelly has time to help you."

"I don't want Shelly's help. I want yours."

"Well, I can't help you."

"Why not?"

"Because like I said, I'm busy."

"With what?"

"It's really none of your business."

"Call me curious."

"Call it none of your business," she said with annoyance.

He tried to smile, "Okay, fine. I give up. I'll see you in school." He stepped back and started down the stairs. "Or not."

"You can have your chocolate back."

"Keep it." He waved a hand in dismissal, walking back out to his car.

"Thanks."

"Whatever," he opened the door and shrugged out of his backpack, throwing it into the car before getting in.

"Sorry."

"No, you're not." He replied before closing the door and peeling away.
