The Rink Rat Hall of Fame

Welcome to the Rink Rat Hockey Hall of Fame.  Here at the RRHHOF is a collection of hockey personalities that The Rink Rats have decided are worthy of praise.  The members of the RRHHOF are hockey - related people who are Rink Rat favorites who have not done anything to embarrass the sport of hockey.   See the guidelines that must be met for inclusion into the RRHHOF over in the left margin of this page.

2001 Inductees

Bob Probert

Steve Yzerman

Our 2001 Inductees

Bob Probert: (voted in by JoeNo mistake about it.  Probert's fighting ability is what earned him his place in the RRHHOF.  Probert has long been a favorite of mine. Probert's ability to beat the snot out of opposing players along with the ability to score was a lethal combination early in his career.  In the 1987-88 season, Probert had 29 goals, 33 assists and a whopping 398 pims.  He then followed that up with 21 pts in 16 playoff games that same year.  I will never forget his classic fights with Marty McSorely and another with Craig Coxe.   Probert is a worthy addition to the RRHHOF.

Steve Yzerman: (voted in by SkippyI nominate Steve Yzerman for the RRHHOF because of his constant 100% effort on the ice. He is an excellent captain & he is an excellent role-model. He doesn't bask in the lime-light, as he chooses to let his play do all the talking. He understands the meaning of the words "team loyalty," playing his entire career in Detroit while understanding that if one person gets all the cash, that there won't be anything left for other talented players. And lastly, he once picked-up my Uncles, Cousins, Sister-in-Laws bag of oranges that she dropped in the middle of Washington Boulevard on her way to market.

AAbout the RRHHOF

Here is a picture from the RRHHOF Dinner which was held for the Honorary Members of the RRHHOF., The Honorary inductees are (L-R) Bobby Orr (Standing), Gordie Howe and Bobby Hull.  Maurice Richard (not shown) is an honorary member also. I don't know what Phil Esposito was doing there, I think Orr brought him.

Maurice "The Rocket" Richard (far right), after receiving his RRHHOF induction plaque, is seeing chatting with a guest and a dead woman (far left)

Seen attending one of the RRHHOF ceremonies is (L-R) Eddie Shore, Maurice "The Rocket' Richard, Clarence "Hap" Day and Tiny Thompson.  I think this picture was taken just moments after Eddie Shore told his famous joke about the 3 nuns and the goalie.   What a riot.

One of the features of the RRHHOF Awards is the traditional street party which goes on through the night.  Skippy (lower left of the picture) is shown after drinking martinis with Toe Blake and Terry Sawchuk for 3 hours.
