Prince: Nigel Harison
While pursuing a career as a boxer in London in the late 1700s, Nigel Bell was Embraced by a Brujah tough and recruited as another strong arm in the intermittent street wars between London's Camarilla and Sabbat vampires. He spent his first dozen years out of the sun knocking heads with the Sabbat before he signed up with the Toreador elder Anthony's bold plan to take Washington D.C. under the cover of the War of 1812. Nigel's martial efforts in taking D.C. earned him the respect of all New World Camarilla, and his charisma saw him appointed as Prince Anthony's Sheriff. He kept that post for the next 150+ years, with a fractious Primogen Council seeing him as too (physically) dangerous to antagonize, too well-liked to destroy, and too naive to start anything on his own. But when the Prince was killed during (some episode of civil unrest somewhere in the '60s to '80s; you know more about D.C. than me, pick something), it was Nigel who (personally) ended the violence and rallied the Primogen into establishing a new peace. He was appointed the new Prince shortly after things settled down (I want Anthony's death to be close enough that most Kindred remember him, but far enough away that everyone's adjusted to Nigel's reign). Since becoming Prince, however, the Primogen Council has rendered Nigel little more than a figurehead. Lacking the political skill to make his own moves without unknowingly upsetting people within the city, Nigel now does little more than rubber-stamp the decisions of the Primogen. This upsets Nigel. He remembers the what it was like in his first days as prince, everybody looking to him for guidance, the whole city united in the face of a common threat. So he's decided to provide that common threat. Nigel has secretly Embraced and Blood Bound a young street hustler who is sneaking into New York and leaking choice details about important havens and meeting places to the Sabbat in that city. He's hoping to both force the Primogen to acknowledge the threat the Sabbat poses, and emerge a hero by miraculously thwarting their efforts. Chronicle developments: When the first several intial attempts to get the Council's attention fail, the Nigel leaks the location of his _own_ haven to the Sabbat, hoping that an assault on so important a Kindred as himself will force the city to unite. The Sabbat call a War Party, storm his haven, and are summarily slaughtered by the well-prepared and extremely deadly (I'm thinking Potence 5, Celerity 4) Prince. But the "attack" backfires. Nigel is seen as a fool for being so exposed, and all the clans start to "turtle" within themselves, bracing for the coming Sabbat Crusade. Here Nigel gives up on the Camarilla for being so blind, and starts working in earnest for the Sabbat. He knows that the Sabbat appreciates the power of unity, and they'll give a warrior his just reward.
