Two of my strange happenings:
I was driving around, and a thrift sale sign caught my eye. I had some extra time so I decided to check it out. I didn't usually find myself in this part of town, so I had to pay attention to the street signs. It was a small sale with a few knickknacks and rusty tools. I was drawn to a pile of old books, which to my fascination were written in German! Then to check the date, I turned to the inside cover and first pages. There was the name of one of my ancestors! At first I though it was just a coincidence, but when I approached the owner she recognized the family resemblance. It turns out she was one of my dad's cousins!
When I was a kid, we often visited one of my great aunts. (She only lived about a mile away.) During one visit I found a small metal vase in the sand in her driveway. I gave it to her and forgot all about it. A few years ago she passed away and her house was sold. Dad and my brother helped to move out her things. I wasn't able to come until the last trip. We went inside to gather the last of the things in the garage and get a last look at the house (I'll always remember that green shag rug). We were getting ready to go when something caught my eye. There on the dusty, homemade, empty shelves sat that tiny vase!
