Just You and I

I've never been the one to ask for forgiveness
I've always just been forgiven.
But now I can't go back
To change what happened in the past.
My memories, they come back to me,
And they hit me like a load.

For those, like me, who need forgiveness
And need to ask the Heavens why.
I take back all of the things I said
Now, I can't look back and smile
For all of the cruel things and words
That were exchanged, I can never forgive myself for.
So I sit here, on my bed
My head filled with thoughts on
How to ask forgiveness from you.
So I thought, "I'll write a song."
And so I did.
You always loved music, and had a song in your head.
So, all I ask is for a clean consience,
A chance to look back and smile
On all of the good times we had together,
Just you and I.
