Photo Periods

Reptiles require daytime and nighttime periods. The best way to do this is the use of a timer. Sporadic or untimely turning on and off of the lights can stress the animal. Timers also relieve your stress level.

Many reptiles we keep as pets come from regions near the equator. They naturally receive a near 12 hours of day and 12 hours of night year round. At most they may receive 14 hours of day and 10 hours of night.

Helpful tip: If you are going to keep reptile in a room where the lights are on well into the night there are a couple of things you can do,

1, Set the timer to come on latter in the day and make sure the windows are closed against outside light.

2, Cover the enclosure with a dark cloth after the lights go out.
