Sensitive, maternal and very romantic
A puppy born under this sign is a loyal, domesticated, stay-at-home dog, who sees it as his responsibility to look after his household to the best of his considerable abilities. Nurturing and protective, these dogs are excellent with children and pups alike (as with Aries, an early visit to the vets is suggested as these dogs are born to reproduce). Like the crab, the symbol of Cancer, these dogs are very defensive and possess enormous tenacity, especially when their security is threatened. The cancerian dog will guard 'his' (your) family with his life. Postmen fear these dogs for good reason for, like the claws of the crab, such animals do not readily release their grip. Early training should guide the Cancerian dog gently towards differentiating between friend and foe or misunderstandings may occur and legal fees build up.
A healty appetite coupled with a reluctance to exercise usually results in these dogs becoming overweight, so, much as he will try to blackmail you out of it, be careful with his feedings and encourage his aptitude for swimming, should the oppertunity arise.
