SUBRACTING  NUMBERS.

 

 

Having learnt how to add up numbers. It’s time to learn how to subtract one number from another.

Another word that will my be using  for subtraction is “take away”.

                                                                             STEP 1

We will start by trying to subtract 2 from 7 .

 

e.g  so we have   1 1 1 1 1 1 1  =    7 sticks

                         

                                                                          STEP 2

We now subtract 2 sticks from the 7 sticks, the two sticks to be subtracted are the 2 purple sticks shown below(remember any two sticks can be subtracted)

After subtracting the two sticks from the seven sticks we now have the following

 

1 1 1 1 1 which is 5.

 

7 – 2 =  5.

=5 dogs
