Feb 13th, 1993: A MASTERPIECE.
����EXCEPTIONAL IN SEVERAL AREAS.
����It is gripping, mysterious, eerie, funny, sad, action-packed, thought provoking on many levels and extremely well acted by everybody. Picking out a favourite strand is almost impossible, but I suppose the tragic love story built around Mr. Spock is what moved me most.
����There is also a strong examination of drugs and drug culture, plus the "hippie" view on life (it was the sixties, after all!).
����You also have a look at Kirk: Portrait Of An Angry Man, a dark and violent man.
����The episode affords us another look at Mr. Spock, as well, and at his unique make-up.
����You also come across the poser: What Do We Need? happiness, fulfillment, obstacles, strife, belonging, challenge - - - what?
����This is what you'd call a showcase episode of Star Trek. You show this to a skeptic in order to display all that is good about Trek.
����N.B. The soundtrack is noticable and superb.
����Also worth noting (and praising) are the "pop" sound effects. Each one jolted me in my seat.
����Best Actor: Nimoy.
