Steamroll Into First Place With 4-1 Humbling Of K’Lautern
White-hot Bayern Munich managed to restore the customary order in the Bundesliga
by leap-frogging into first place with a convincing 4-1 victory over the
previous league-leaders from Kaiserslautern. The top-of-the-table showdown was
as good as decided in the defending champion's favour as early as half-an-hour
into the proceedings, when Hasan Salihamidzic scored his second of the match to
make it 3-0 for the hosts. Roque Santa Cruz got the ball rolling for the
Bavarian powerhouse with his third tally of the season on 16 minutes, while
Harry Koch’s 82nd minute penalty gave his side hope by pulling the visitors
within two. A last minute strike by Claudio Pizarro completed the convincing 4-1
scoreline for Bayern, who on the evidence of their latest performances should
prove a tough act to follow in Germany
