Trip List Highlights
Banding Codes will be used for all reports, a banding code is generally the first two letters of the first part of a bird's name and the first two letters of a second part of a bird's name. An example would be GReen HEron (GRHE). A link to a page with banding codes for North American Birds is included. This page is going to become extremely long, so just scroll on down until you find what you're looking for.

Notes - this trip was orignally a rail walk, the lake is refuge is pretty tough as lake levels are high and pond levels are low, making marsh and mudflats virtually nonexistent. A good rain will make Hagerman a perfect spot for Nelson's Sharp-tailed and Yellow and/or Black Rail

Other Notes - the refuge staff recently flooded a field which looks like fantastic habitat for shorebirds and ducks, it has been there less than 5 days. The most intereting thing about the large, shallow pond is that on the bank which the wind was blowing into there were at least 750-1000 mosquito larvae per cubic foot of water. It is directly across the road from O pad. Also present were FOS Wilson's Snipe.
