Kibune In Heian period, Izumishikibu and many other noblemen visited Kibune shrine where the deity of water who gathers religion from ancient days is enshrined. Nowadays, it is known by the deity of marriage and popular with fortunetelling with water.
Kurama Kurama mountain, the mountain opposite side of Kibune river, is known as a legend of tengu (Ushiwakamaru). The Buddha is said he administered the universe. This shrine has a mysterious atmosphere because the legend is told that the deity came down to the earth from Venus 6,500,000 years ago. Using a cable car when you go up and walking the approach to a shrine when you go down are the best way to see red leaves in fall.
Sanzen'in This is the sight to see red leaves which is placed 30 minutes from urban district by car. Ojogokurakuin is built in 1148. The main Buddha, Amitbta, is an elegant figure that represents Heian period. Saicho opened the grave which was in Enryakuji when it was built, moved to Shiga Sakamoto after that, and finally moved to this place in Meiji period.
Jakkoin It is an isolated nunnery in Ohara village. The main building of a temple is under reconstruction, but you can see the garden and the maple trees.
