Kyoto Imperial Palace It was an Emperor's residence until the Meiji Restoration. It is a huge premise (1200m north to south, 800m east to west). You can roam premise freely, but you need a permission to see inside of the Imperial Palace in advance.
Nijo Castle The shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu raised the castle in 1603 and it was his lodging when he visited Kyoto. The castle tower in those days burned down in 1788.
Higashi Honganji This huge wooden temple next to Daibutsuden (Nara) is famous for Goeido, at a height of 37m, width of 76m.
Toji The tallest five-tiered pagoda in Japan. The formal name of this temple is "Kyouo Gokokuji". It has many images of Buddha which is reserved for national treasure.
