| CONSTITUTION & BY-LAWS | ||||||||
| NAME: The name of this organization shall be the "Rhode Island Dairy Goat Association". PURPOSE: The purpose of the Association shall be the promotion and inprovement of the dairy goat and its products. MEMBERSHIP: 1. Any person interested in dairy goats may become a member upon payment of dues. 2. Girls and Boys under 16 years of age may become a junior member upon payment of one-half the regular dues rate. 3. Junior members shall not have voting priviledges. OFFICERS: The offices of the association shall be president, secretary and treasurer. When the association hs fifty or more active members, a vice-president and three directors may be added. In the event of a vacancy, caused by resignation, death or removal of an officer failing to fullfill his or her duties, the association shall at it's next meeting, elect a successor to fulfill the unexpired term of such officer. The president having notified the members at least six days ahead of the meeting, that such an election is to be held. It the presidential office is involved, the secretary shall do the notifying. The officers shall be elected at the Annual Meeting which shall be held in November each year. Voting shall be done by ballot. DUTIES OF THE PRESIDENT: It shall be the duty of the President to preside at all the Association meetings, to preserve order and enfore the Consitution and By-Laws, to cast the deciding vote in case of a tie (except in the election of officers or appeals from his decisions), to appoint, from time to time, such standing or commitees as may be needed to issue calls for special meetings, and to perform customary duties of the presiding officer. The president is to be an ex-offcio member of all committees. VICE-PRESIDENT (If Office Warranted): It shall be the duty of the VIce-President to perform all duties of the President in his or her absence. SECRETARY: It shall be the duty of the Secretary to keep a correct record of the proceedings of the Association, to conduct all official correspondance, to notify members of times and places of meetings and to keep a roll of members. TREASURER: It shall be the duty of the Treasurer to record all receipts and payment, to collect and receive money due the Association, to be custodian of the funds which shall be dispersed on by order of the Association, to make financial reports as required, and to perform all other duties pertaining to this office. ORDER OF BUSINESS: 1. Reading of minutes oof previous meeting 2. Financial report 3. Communications, bills, etc. 4. Membership applications 5. Reports of Committees 6. Unfinished business 7. New Business 8. Good of the Association 9. Adjournement AMENDMENTS: The Association may at any regular meeting, add to, alter, or amend any part of this Constitution by a 2/3 vote of the members present, providing notice of such proposed change shall be given at the previous meeting. MEETINGS: The regular meetings shall normally be held once a month at a place, time and date designated by the President. The secretary shall notify the members of regular meetings at least two weeks in advance. Twenty percent of the total voting membership shall consitute a quorum at any regular or special meeting. DUES: The dues of the Association shall be $10.00 per annum in advance, for individual and/or family membership. As of 1st of June, memberships for the current year will be closed, memberships paid after 1st of June shall apply to the following year, commencing 31st of October |
