|
Rider is the Servant of Shinji Mato and is silent, sultry and vigilant. She never hesitates to shield her Master, Shinji, from harm, although she holds no love for him. |
|
|
|
Rider, however, was not originally Shinji's servant. She was originally summoned by Shinji's sister, Sakura Mato. Sakura reluctantly relenquished Rider to Shinji after he pressured her to do so. |
|
|
|
|

Her real name is Medusa, the Gorgon from Greek Mythology. |

If you're new to Fate/Stay Night you're probably wondering what I mean by "Servant". Bare with me, I'll try to explain ^^;;
In Fate/Stay Night, there is what's called the Holy Grail War. In this War, 7 Masters are selected to fight out this war to obtain the Holy Grail, which will grant them whatever they desire.
The Masters, whom are usually Magicians or come from a long line of them, each summon a Servant. The Servants are supposed to obey the Masters and fight in their stead, they are also the spirits of ancient heros or characters of mythology.
Also, Each Master is given 3 command spells after they summon a Servant. These command spells allow them to issue absolute orders, even if the Servant doesn't want to comply with them they'd have no choice. If all 3 are used up the Servant is freed from their Master and can either allow themselves to disappear or form a pact with a new Master.
There are said to be 7 'classes' of Servants. Saber, Archer, Rider, Caster, Assassin, Berserker, and Lancer. (However, in the game it is revealed that there are really 8, the final one being called Avenger) Which kind a Master summons is usually fairly random, however, the Spirit that a Master Summons generally have similar personality traits as their Master and also have some sort of 'connection' or something in common with them. |

By using her blood as a material component, Rider is able to create a crimson dome-shaped barricade around her foes. Victims trapped inside this enclosure are dissolved into a slurry of blood and organic ooze, which is later absorbed by Rider as Mana. Although this Noble Phantasm is effective at cutting off escape routes for fleeing enemies, its primary function is the accumulation of Mana. |

The visor Rider wears serves to cover up her Mystic Eyes and manage the power emitted from her gaze. If her unbridled gaze falls upon something, that something will turn to stone, regardless of if it had looked into her eyes or not. |

There are two parts to this Noble Phantasm. The first being Rider's mount, her pegasus. She can conjure her pegasus as means of escape or as means of attacking.
The second part of this Noble Phantasm is the golden harness and saddle, which increase all of Rider's Pegasus' stats. |
