Continuing down 190, I again turned toward the water where I discovered this gem. Trails and the works are available.
Below is the canoe landing.
The road returned to 190 where after a few miles I turned south once more and found a contiuation of Big Branch. The gravel road began sinking and was covered with water which dissueded me from continuing. Sometimes it's worth it and sometimes it's not. Not.

After leaving the marsh, I went to Slidel to try to take US 11 across the Rigolets, a future story. I wanted to visit Fort Pike which is a great stop on US 90, the Chef Manteur Hwy. I found the bridge closed. Bummer. So I made a retreat and ended up in Abita Springs. Abita is famous for its water, beer, places to drink both and its lovely (lovely word) historic section. I was whipped and only took pictures of what I immediately saw and then homed home.

As I close this chapter of Two Wheelin', I'll leave you with another look at another Shotgun House. It is located in Abita Springs near the "museum". There is "taste" and there is TASTE. We have it all. Check out the Northshore. See why all those expatriots cross the Causeway twice a day. And, I'll be back, so stay tuned.
