Southeast Louisiana,
the "toe"on the boot that is Louisiana.

Water, water everywhere and most of it is pretty. People go to Destin, Fla. and pay big bucks to have to share a little white sand and swim in a brimy, sometimes dangerous ocean.  Yuck, clean cool water, inner tube, and an inner tube for the ice chest, all tied to a log is a lot better. This I have done after a long hot trail ride. Man it was wonderful. The pain and the ecstacy.
This is a typical swimming hole. The highway bridge offers shade and protection from the occational rain. Park your car under  it and wax away the day. Friendly people. I stopped to eat lunch here and there was a "crowd". A fellow came up to me to inquired about the bike and introduced himself, first and last name, and shook hands.
Says something .
Bubba, these are Creeks
And if they don't rise,
                              We'll be OK
Its a lot cooler down in these spots on a hot summer's day. I ate lunch with a breeze blowing and the sound of trickling water gurgling as my background music.
Actually, they do rise and cause a lot of havac.
This is the new bridge across the Pearl River at Bogalusa, looking east toward Mississippi. This La.10 turning into Ms.26. For the knowledge base: 26 runs straight across Ms. until right above Mobil, Al. Then you get on US98 and do Mobil and proceed eastward as you want. 26 is beautiful. It is not trafficed. There are few towns and none of any real size. It beats the hell out of I-10 which is the worst road on Earth. Now if you want to continue west from Bogalusa, which I would in a hurry, stay on 10.  My page, found in contents under "A Route to Escape the Interstate" details that route.
This is the reason for the new bridge. The old bridge was a thing of beauty, making an "S" curve across the river and through the swamp. But, as you can see, "when the creek rises", it wasn't much good at being a bridge.
Let's put this scene to bed and look at the pines in the Southeastern night.
