Club Profile

The Rotary Club of Valenzuela South was organized on June 16, 1988. The RC of Metro Valenzuela was the sponsoring club, and the DGSR was its Charter President Rey Lopez. The new club's Charter President Ramon Madera and 32 other charter members were inducted at the Manila Hilton by District Governor Tino Cacanindin.
The following Rotary year, 1989-1990 saw the club led by PP Art Samonte, becoming active both at the local as well as district level. PP Frank Rivera became president the succeeding year. During his term, he became the first Paul Harris Fellows of the club.
Taking the reigns of leadership from 1991-1992, PP Ramy Tagama, strengthened the club further. During his term, the club became second place overall in the PalaRotary event held that year. The year of PP Bert Galang, RY 1992-1993 was quite impressive. Notable was the number of membership invitations accepted which was one of the highest in the district.
The following year - 1993-1994 during PP Nes Ramos term, pre-schooler books were donated, tree planting at the North Diversion Highway was undertaken. Also, the annual "Pedicab Livelihood Project" was initiated.
The year 1994-1995 saw PP Vic Santiago take responsibility. During his term, the club for the first time hosted a District Forum on Livelihood and successfully at that. The following year 1995-1996, PP Jess Vargas hitting the bell with the club presidential gavel. Continuing the projects of the club and actively participating in the programs of the District. The club also auspiciously accomplished a medical-dental mission in sitio Cam-cam, Valenzuela. To cap his accomplishment, he attended the R.I. Convention in Calgary, Canada.
RY 1996-1997 was memorable for PP Angel Sebastian. The club's capabilities and teamwork skills were tested to the limits when it hosted the District PESETS. By district standards, the event was deemed excellent in terms of attendance, hosting and course content, and is now consider the benchmark for club hosting of major event of this kind in the district.
For 1999-2000, under the leadership of Millennium President Flor dela Cruz, the club hit the highest rate of membership with 10 new members. The club continues to sponsor yearly community service projects like the "Wash Hand" program, "Proper Way to Tooth brushing" program, medical/dental missions and food supplementation program at various public elementary schools in Valenzuela.
Today, the club has renewed its commitment to continue the mission of Rotary International, and to persevere in attaining Rotary's Objectives. Despite few in number and young of age, the club knows what it has in terms of abilities, and what it can do in terms of teamwork. It is now flexing it self for the challenge of the Rotary year ahead.
